    Daughter of J. Alonzo and Alice W. Brannen, Maude Edge grew up near the corner of W. Main and Walnut Streets. After graduating from Wesleyan and having 7 children, Maude returned to her hometown and wrote a series of columns.

The competition allows for contestants to make a 3-minute pitch of their innovative venture and be assessed as to the viability of the venture by local community leaders, academics, and investors.
